Jesper Parnevik and Tiger WoodsJesper Parnevik, the Swedish golfer who introduced Tiger Woods to his future wife Elin Nordegren eight years ago, has admitted that he is “very sad” about the couple’s problems, and feels that he owes an apology to Ms Nordegren, the former nanny to his children.
Woods, the world No 1 who has had two children with Ms Nordegren since their marriage in 2004, issued his own apology earlier yesterday for “transgressions” that apparently addressed allegations that he had had extramarital relationships.
“I am very sad of course,” Parnevik told the Golf Channel in Florida. “I really feel sorry for Elin since me and my wife were at fault for hooking her up with him.”
Ms Nordegren was working as nanny to the children of Parnevik and his wife Mia when she met Woods during the 2001 British Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes in England.
“We probably thought he was a better guy than he is then,” added Parvenik, 44, a five-time winner on the PGA Tour.
“I would probably need to apologise to her [Ms Nordegren].”
A New York socialite and nightclub VIP hostess is expected today to admit to an affair with Woods.
Lawyers for Rachel Uchitel told reporters that they would issue a statement “about Ms Uchitel’s relationship with Tiger Woods” at a press conference in Los Angeles later today.
Woods mysteriously crashed into a fire hydrant and a tree while pulling out of the driveway of his home in Windermere, Florida, last Friday. Ms Nordegren used a golf club to smash a window of the car to get him out.
Woods, the greatest player of his generation and perhaps of all time, has since been engulfed in speculation over his private life following media reports that he and his wife had argued before the crash.
“It’s a private thing, of course,” said Parnevik, who was speaking at this week’s PGA Tour qualifying tournament at Bear Lakes Country Club in Florida.
“But when you are the guy he is, the world’s best athlete, you should think more before you do stuff and maybe not ‘Just do it’, like Nike says.”
One of the world’s most recognisable figures, with a squeaky clean, hard-working image, Woods has lucrative endorsement deals with major companies such as Nike, AT&T, and Gillette.

I have always admired the magic that Tiger creates on the golf course and do not watch any game where he is absent – period! His commercial genius ranks a close second.
Having said that – Tiger is human and my respect for his ability has not changed one ounce. What is sickening to see are the so called fans and fellow golfers who are using this to get airtime for themselves. Your support and appreciation for someone only reveals itself when it is tested in times like these.
So, if we have something constructive, let’s share it or shut up about fake apologies to his wife and schoolboy jokes.
I remain a loyal fan and can assure you that Tiger will rise above this hurdle and play some of the finest golf ever witnessed!!
Blame it on Tiger gene or on his Thai half of genetic. Here in Thailand it would have been a bigger joke if this not happened as no one would believed.

I am not condoning what Tiger has done but i think he needs to be left to try and salavage his marriage. This is a terrible trying and hurtful time for his entire family and friends , yes he has fallen from grace but havent we all at some time? Leave him and his family alone. If you know that you are sinless then you can talk negatively about Tiger,you can say whatever you want to say but if you are a sinner yourself then keep quiet, remember that only one of your fingers is pointing at Tiger but the rest to you. The fact that the Honourable MR Woods decided to cheat on his wife tells you that all was not okay at home. Every one is saying forget and forgive Tiger, as it could have happened to anyone but what about his beautiful wife and children. How much more can she endure. When ever she put the TV or radio on it is about her two timing husband. Open a magazine or newspaper and once again there is another woman stating she slept with Tiger.
If I was his wife I would want to get away from everyone as people seeing her will say “look there goes that poor wife of Tiger Woods. The one that slept with any female alive or dead. Shame on you Tiger Woods for doing what you did not only to your wife and kids but to the sponsors who made you rich. You became according to yourself “Gods gift to the human race”. People like you digust me.
How very opportunistic of all those women to all of a sudden come out and claim they slept with Tiger! I find their action more shameful than the affairs. They are just gold digging skanks who gladly opened their legs and some even got paid for it. No one forced them to. Everyone must just leave Tiger alone to deal with his issues. What Tiger did is not for me to judge, with that said, he owes Elin a huge apology and really mean it. It must not be an apology of saying , “I am sorry you caught me cheating” it must be an apology to say “I wronged you big-time” and people must stop expecting Tiger to apologise to them.

I have read all these emails and find it rather distressing thst people seem to think that it is OK for someone to cheat on their spouse. Where are our values and self respect. Facts -Tiger cheated. His wife is not some form of low life because she is a nanny. She is much more than that anyway. If someone has an affair it may be due to marital problems but he cheated on 14 mistresses 1 wife 2 legitimate children & goodness knows how many illegitimate ones (if any) how is this his wifes fault?? Yes he has an incredilble golfing talent, but golf will survive without him. No person is bigger than the game. Millions around the world play the game for the love of it – and golfing ettiquette and the rules ensure that we play with respect for the game, partners, opponents and self. Over many years of playing the game I, like most other golfers, believe that the integrity shown on a golf course follows the way we lead our personal lives, what a tragedy that Tiger did not follow the same rules. I agree that Tiger has a problem and that he must deal with it. I hope he does, or he must accept his addictions and enjoy them – and until he can commit to one person only he must remember that AIDS STDs and pregnancies can all be avoided. Must admit I shall not miss his spitting. For many years my husband & I watch as much as European golf as possible and the US tour we only watch when European or South Africans are playing well as the American commentary is horrendous (Thankfully Nick Faldo makes it bearable).
