Hodgson Admits Torres Transfer Possibility

Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson's admission that Fernando Torres is unsettles at Liverpool could spark a bidding war between Chelsea and Manchester City.

Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson's admission that Fernando Torres is unsettles at Liverpool could spark a bidding war between Chelsea and Manchester City.

Roy Hodgson says he has done all he can to keep Fernando Torres at Liverpool, admitting the Spaniard is in dispute with the club.

Hodgson replaced Rafa Benitez as Anfield manager last month, and believes if Torres leaves the damage will have been done before he arrived.

“Unfortunately, I cannot do much more,” Hodgson said. “His beef is with the club and not me.

“Fernando’s situation has nothing to do with me, he made that perfectly clear over the phone during the World Cup and when I met him face-to-face.

“He knows what I would like to do with the club. He knows how much I value him.

“But his issues are with what has gone on in the past rather than the future.

“If he has problems with the club for things in the past, it is difficult for me to dismiss that.”

Torres was part of Spain’s victorious World Cup squad, although he failed to score in South Africa and was dropped from the team.

He has scored 72 goals in 116 games over three injury-hit seasons for Liverpool.

Irish Boycott For Henry?

Thierry Henry has signed a multi-year deal with the New York Red Bulls in the NHS.

Thierry Henry has signed a multi-year deal with the New York Red Bulls in the NHS.

While most New York soccer fans have been thrilled at the prospect of French star Thierry Henry playing in the city, the Irish are not smiling.

Irish football fans in New York are being urged to boycott the city’s Red Bulls team after it signed French ace Thierry Henry. Many cannot forgive Henry for his handball in the run-up to the goal that knocked Ireland out of the FIFA World Cup. Not even a disastrous World Cup campaign for the French team (where they failed to win a single game), could ease the Irish anger.

Asked about the incident after the match, Henry said: “I will be honest, it was a handball. But I’m not the ref. I played it, the ref allowed it. That’s a question you should ask him.”

Columnist Sean O’Shea called Henry “Le Cheat” and said: “Irish Americans have long memories.”

WATCH: The World Cup In Lego

Lego football stars go head to head in recreations of the FIFA World Cup.

The FIFA World Cup might be over, but you can still relive some of the best moments (and have a good laugh!) by watching these Lego goal recreations.

After failing his senior school exams, 19-year-old Fabian Moritz had time on his hands – so he set about recreating some of the 2010 FIFA World Cup’s best goals out of Lego figures, and his exploits quickly became a massive Internet sensation.

Each goal takes about three hours to recreate, as he has to take a photo for every frame of the video and move the Lego pieces by hand in-between – meaning that some goals can consist of up to 80 photos.

The attention to detail (including proper commentary) is so realistic that Moritz garnered deals with the Guardian newspaper in England and Bild in Germany to reproduce all the goals from those teams’ matches. So popular was his version of Robert Green’s keeping blunder in the Eng-USA clash that it had been viewed 1.3-million times two weeks into the tournament.
